Immersive communication is here to stay it's a new way of thinking about communicating where you put the audience in the center of the experience. It is multisensory nonlinear, and gamified.
Here is my model of how immersive communication tools and tactics can fit into a broader strategic approach as a part of my Multilayered Internal Communication Model.
We've already just seen Meta announce their Orion mixed reality prototype glasses that are expected on the market around 2027.
Here is a peek into what they look like at the moment.
We still have a way to go before the experience is worth the cost and discomfort.
Immersive technology powered by AI in the coming years will make it a much better experience for everyone.
But things are getting exciting as we keep adding elements of the fourth industrial revolution.
We have the place – so virtual environments where you are fully immersed, augmented reality, which is where digital is overlayed over a view of the real world – so that’s our mini car. And mixed reality, where the physical and digital worlds can interact.
It gets exciting when we add AI and generative AI, the intelligence, because this allows for more realistic movement in the 3D environment. It is this movement, such as a facial expression or a hand gesture that helps with the non-verbal communication in these spaces.
Then we have ownership: In this loop, we also have blockchain, which will be able to help with verification – so on par with our fax machine verification that the content is created by who they say it is created by.
But it isn't just about the technology. As I write in my book, you can create immersive experiences by following the principles and thinking creatively.
Happy to chat more about this.
